CloseItSocialMediaShiftSand.pngThis evening marks the kickoff of the 2016 Close It Summit in Dallas, TX hosted by nonprofit Innovate+Educate, a national leader in developing strategies and implementing solutions to address the skills gap! The title of this year’s conference is SHIFT Happens: No Turning Back in reference to the ever-evolving education, training, and hiring space. In particular, the 2016 summit is to be focused on the shift toward competencies and the innovative new changes happening in competency-based education.

Our team is incredibly excited to be down in Texas for the summit and we are looking forward to hearing more about new employment technologies, different strategies for executing competency-based assessments, the shifting strategies of higher education institutions, and employers who are leading the SHIFT with innovative training and hiring practices. Moreover, Penn Foster will be joining the conversation tomorrow with two sessions featuring our own CEO, Frank Britt.

Delivering on the Upskilling Promise

Moderated by Mary Wright from Jobs for the Future, the first panel session, Delivering on the Upskilling Promise, will take place in Reunion C at 2:30pm tomorrow to discuss the challenge of scalability in upskilling the workforce and innovative ways to combat these challenges. Frank will be joined on the panel by Kent Fuka, Founder and Co-Director, Querium; Adrian Ridner, Chief Executive Officer, study.com; and Ronald Stefanski Executive Director, Strategic Alliances, Cengage Learning.

Empower Your Workforce with Competency-based Education

Immediately following the panel, we move to our second co-presentation in Cumberland L at 3:30pm with Whitney Taylor, Program Specialist in Medical Learning at Banfield Pet Hospital. Frank and Whitney will address not only how the middle skills crisis is impacting employers on a national scale, but dive into the challenges facing the veterinary medicine industry due to a lack of qualified veterinary technicians and how Banfield is tackling this issue head-on. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of How to Empower, Elevate and Motivate Your Workforce with Integrated, Competency-based Education.
