Posted by Emma Rose Gallimore on 10/10/19 11:00 AM

As the skills gap puts pressure on businesses in various industries, those businesses turn to staffing firms to fill open positions. Record low unemployment rates, weak workforce participation rates and changing skills demands make finding the right temporary employee more difficult than ever.

The Voice of the the Blue Collar Worker report from EmployBridge found that there are far more blue-collar jobs available today than there are skilled workers to fill them. This means that middle-skills employers, and the staffing firms that supply them, must change their recruitment and retention strategies to keep talent pipelines strong.

Posted by Emma Rose Gallimore on 7/10/19 11:00 AM

A well-developed job posting is the first step toward attracting the right talent to fill open positions. With a yawning skills gap, and a plummeting unemployment rate, quality job postings are more important than ever. If you’re still repurposing the same job postings you used a decade ago, you’re probably missing great candidates.

Scan any of the major job listing sites and you’ll find a wide range of styles. Some stick to a traditional framework, while others try to infuse company culture into every line. Whichever style you choose, your goal is the same: to attract the best candidates for the job. To do so, you need more than a list of expectations. You need to help candidates see themselves in the position.

Posted by Jake Sotir on 4/4/18 4:13 PM

As technology continues to evolve at an incredibly fast rate, the role of staffing firms has changed with it. The average worker is finding it more and more difficult to stay current with the necessary skills to succeed in a labor market that’s requiring more of them each and every day, and the result is a growing skills gap. As that gap widens, the role of staffing firms has become more important than ever. The Future of Staffing: Perspectives from the 2017 Staffing World Expo

Posted by Collin Gutman on 11/10/17 1:04 PM

If you spent five minutes in the exposition hall at the ASA’s 2017 Staffing World Expo & Conference last month, you would very quickly get a sense of what products are being purchased by staffing firms.

Throughout the hall, there was a cluster of background check companies, a pocket of drug testing companies, the major ATS players, the companies that make sure you’re in compliance and, of course, the behemoths of sourcing occupying mammoth booths. Staffing, for the past 30 years, has remained simple in this way. Find candidates, make sure they check the boxes, place them, rinse, repeat. No fluff.  Nothing extraneous. No vendors selling flashy website upgrades, no internal talent profiling, even very few assessments.
